Hello there! Today I have a combined review today thanks to the ChickAdvisor Review Club! I recently got the chance to try out 3 things from the Simple Skincare line: Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer, Simple Micellar Cleansing Water, and Simple Micellar Make-Up Remover Wipes.

Before we start, just a bit about the brand in case you’re interested. Simple is a facial skincare brand that started in the UK in 1960. The brand’s main philosophy is to create products without any artificial perfumes or dyes. Their products are also hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and pH balanced. Due to all of these things, Simple is marketed as a skincare solution for those with sensitive skin.

Just for a frame of reference, I would say I have oily- combination type skin which is actually not too sensitive. I think like most, I’ve had a negative skin reaction here and there, but in general, I can try new products without spot testing. Now on to the reviews!

1. Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer

First up for review is the moisturizer. I have to say this is a really solid moisturizer. It has almost a gel consistency which means that it soaks into the skin quickly with great moisturizing benefits. I can definitely see myself using this as a daily moisturizer. Two major cons for me about this product is that it does not have SPF and I’m not too partial about the smell. It’s not completely overwhelming, but I don’t really like it. Simple Skincare products aren’t scented, but I think they almost has a plastic-y smelling tinge to it. As I said though, the smell isn’t bad enough for me not to want to use it!

2. Simple Micellar Cleansing Water

This is actually the first micellar water I’ve tried so it’s hard for me to compare to something like Bioderma or the Garnier one. Like the moisturizer, I liked this product! I felt that it did exactly what it said it would do. I usually used this right after I used a makeup wipe and I would see some reside left over on the cotton pad (yuck!). Like the moisturizer though, I noticed that I had some issues with the scent. Other than the scent though, this product worked like a charm!

3. Simple Micellar Make-Up Remover Wipes

I have tried Simple wipes before, but not the Micellar ones. I try a lot of wipes, I almost think I should change my blog name to “Makeup Wipe Connoisseur” or something! (not really though). I would say that these wipes are just okay. They definitely did the job, but I notice, like the regular Simple wipes, they just are not saturated enough. I obviously don’t mean they have to be dripping, but they just feel drier than other wipes I’ve tried. The smell (as with the other products), sort of bothered me. In terms of their performance though, I would say they are middle of the road. I used the micellar water after using these wipes and I could see some residue on my cotton pad. This is to be expected with all wipes though, so I don’t necessarily think these wipes are any worse!

Verdict

All in all, I think Simple is just okay. Okay is good. Okay is solid. But okay won’t make you sing from the roof about a product. For all three of these products, the scent was one thing that just didn’t fly with me. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but definitely something to note. I would say if I saw a really good sale on Simple products I would go for it, but otherwise I wouldn’t go out of my way to really grab anything.

Thanks so much for reading! Hope you have a wonderful day!

  1. I’ve tried the original simple makeup wipes before and liked them (plus they’re SO cheap!) Didn’t know they had a micellar one now but I guess I’ll stick with the original ones!Simple products have always been okay to be as well..but then they ARE simple. Simple on wallet too! 😀

  2. Totally agree with you on the wipes. I really am not a fan because they just don’t remove enough from my face. I use them only for arm swatches if I happen to have them on hand!

  3. I actually love their rich moisturizer! It’s not actually very ‘rich’ for me, but I loved it because yeah, it did sink in very quickly and was great underneath makeup. (Unfortunately, I kinda stopped using it because I forgot to bring it down to my vanity area/neglected it and forgot I owned it L O L)….and I…don’t smell this ‘plastic-y’ smell. It actually smells like mushrooms to me?? Weirdly??

I keep the Garnier micellar water on my vanity for cleaning up my mascara + winged liner. I might try the Simple one after I’m done with Garnier’s though since it’s cheap and accessible.

    1. Yeah very true! Not rich and more of a gel consistency. It does look amazing under makeup! I’m sad there is no SPF. If it had it I would love it so much more. Yeah LOL I totally remember us having this conversation about the Mushroom smell. I wish I actually smelled that. I don’t mind mushrooms at all!

I would definitely try the Simple one out!
