If there is one thing that I love in this world it’s lipsticks. They can change your look with a simple swipe.  Today I have a review of the recently released Mary Kay Gel Semi- Matte lipsticks. Spoiler: I’m pretty impressed with them!

The Mary Kay Gel Semi- Matte lipsticks are described by Mary Kay as:

“The first full coverage lipstick by Mary Kay to utilize gel microsphere technology for rich, stay-true colour that lasts for hours – without leaving lips looking or feeling dry.”

Ohhhh fancy microsphere technology! Haha! Mary Kay is making some mighty claims! I have usually pretty dry lips so I was curious to see how these would perform.

First on the shade range. I’m very very happy with every single colour. From light to dark, all are wearable and rich. Below you can see a handy swatch photo of all the colours on me:

As you can see, most of the colours lean towards traditional pinks, but the reds and berry shades are appreciated.

True to form, the finish is definitely semi matte: a slight sheen without it looking totally flat. I actually quite like the way this looks on the lips.

The colours have unreal pigmentation and they really pop! The pigmentation on these is probably my favourite part. I noticed they last quite long on me (5+ hours including eating and drinking) which is great because I NEVER touch up throughout the day

The only thing about these I did notice was that they did eventually dry my lips down a bit. I generally put lip balm underneath all my lipsticks and this seemed to help. I would say they did not dry my lips out as much as some matte lipsticks have though!.

All in all, I think these are definitely worth the $21 price tag. The packaging feels great and sturdy in the hand with a luxe feel. Out of the 8 shades, I’m sure you’ll find one (or all of them) that works great for you!

Thanks so much for reading! Hope you are having a great day!
