Mary Kay Satin Hands and Lip Sets

Hello friends! I was recently stranded on a work trip in the north due to extreme weather conditions. While up there, one of the things I noticed first was how extremely dry and uncomfortable my skin was feeling. I actually got a nosebleed because it was just so dry there. It was a combination of the drying hotel soap and just the overall dry air. Long story short, winter is here and skin is dry.

Something I wish I had up on my trip was the Mary Kay “Satin” lines: Satin Hands and Satin Lips. If you’re like me and dry skin and lips aren’t your thing, these might be a great way banish it ’till summer!

Satin Hands Pampering Set in White Tea & Citrus

First up is the Satin Hands kit ($51 CAD). This contains three items all neatly packed in a plastic gift bag ready to give away!

  • Fragrance-Free Protecting Softener
  • White Tea & Citrus Refining Shea Scrub
  • White Tea & Citrus Nourishing Shea Cream

This set also comes in all Fragrance -Free as well. I actually gave away that set to my boyfriend’s mom. She experiences very dry skin and is scent sensitive. Perfect match right?

Fragrance-Free Protecting Softener

This is a product I’ve never used before. It’s in the consistency of a balm but for your hands. Due to this reason, it leaves your hands a bit greasy after use. Be careful about getting around fabrics as it will leave a mark.

I noticed that if I needed to do something with my hands soon after, wiping the excess off with a tissue was fine. It noticeably softened my hands (even after wiping the excess off). I’m definitely going to be using this when my hands get all cracked up.

The fragrance-free was a nice option. I would say that it actually has the most faint scent of a ‘cream’ smell, but definitely faint enough to be deemed fragrance free in my opinion.

White Tea & Citrus Refining Shea Scrub

Another original product in my collection for sure. I’ve used body scrubs before but never one specifically for your hands. I like this as I could use it as a hand soap too (it frothed up nicely). The granules were noticeable, but not too harsh and not too light. This was a great prep product for any cream you decide to use after.

The white tea and citrus scent was very pleasant. Noticeable, but I thought it was a very clean and refreshing scent! No complaints here!

White Tea & Citrus Nourishing Shea Cream

Last but not least we have the regular hand cream in the set. I was very happy with this. The cream was moisturizing but not too greasy. As mentioned above, the white tea and citrus scent is very pleasant. Definitely a hand cream that I can see myself throwing in my bag or keeping at work.

Satin Lips Set

Next up is the Satin Lips kit ($32). I was very excited to try this as my lips are dry all year round but especially in the winter. The kit contains two lip products:

  • Shea Sugar Scrub
  • Shea Butter Balm

Shea Sugar Scrub

I really liked this sugar scrub. It was easy to use in the squeeze tube versus the pot that so many lip scrubs are in. The scrub itself worked quite well with the granules packed in but not too hard or abrasive. This worked well for me and I can definitely see myself using it up!

Shea Butter Balm

I’ve tried a LOT of lip balms. Like, a LOT. I have pretty dry lips and I tend to stick to the same products. This one was unique in that it softened my lips literally in seconds. The Shea Butter Balm is probably one of the fastest moisturizing balms I’ve used. It has more of a liquid-y formulation (which I like) so I think that’s why it worked quite quick. This was very comfortable on the lips and perfect for putting in a jacket for on the go. Due to the more moist formula, I’d be a bit careful about putting other lip products on top until the balm dries down a bit.

And there we have two sets from Mary Kay to help you fight that winter skin. I’m happy with both these kits and can see myself using them throughout the season. These both make great gifts as well, the Satin Hands kit especially because it comes in that gift bag to use it with.

Any tips for fighting the winter skin blues? Let me know!

Thanks so much for reading! Hope you have a great day!

  1. 😐 what if you cant afford the satin lips can you use the satin hand scrub on your lips?

    1. Hi! I definitely wouldn’t recommend you use them on your lips. If you’re looking for an inexpensive lip scrub, I sometimes use sugar and water to make a scrub. You can also use a moist toothbrush to use as a scrub as well!
