Hello! This week on the blog I thought I would do something a little different. I recently received a few goodies from Essence to try out, so I thought I would create a theme week based on the brand! Today I have a mini review and swatches of the full Matt Matt Matt lipstick collection!
The finish of these is matte (which you’ve probably guessed). Using these for the first time I was pretty impressed.
There are eight shades in the collection, nudes to vampy and everything in between. From left to right we have:
- Natural Kiss
- Perfect Match
- Wow Effect
- Pink Up Your Life
- Red- Y or Not?
- Kiss Me If You Can
- Purple Power
- It’s a Statement
All in all I was pretty happy with the pigmentation of these. With their matte formula, using them for the first time was a bit stiff. I did notice after using them for a bit, they were actually very creamy and went on the lips easily.
My favourite of the bunch are 03 Wow Effect, 04 Pink Up Your Life and 05 Red-Y or Not?. Can you tell I like bright pinks? I did find that the two darker shades went on a bit patchy. This patchyness definitely accentuated any dry patches which wasn’t great. Since these are a matte lipstick, I did find my lips drying out just a bit later in the day. I wouldn’t say these are nearly as drying as some liquid matte lipsticks though and for the price, these are definitely worth checking out.
I also made a Pinterset-friendly lip swatch card of all the shades.

Yeah definitely! I feel like the drugstore is getting a bit crazy with their prices, so it’s nice to see that Essence is keeping things affordable!
