Review: Tarte Double Duty Beauty- Sultry Star Power

*Gift

tarte double duty

Hello friends! Today I have a review of a Tarte palette! Through the Canadian Beauty Bloggers, I won a contest hosted by Julie from Swatch and Review. She was in the States at the time and offered to pick me up something of my choice! To make the whole thing a bit more interesting, I decided to let her choose and she picked out this gorg palette. So what do I think of it?

Overview:

A beautiful high quality neutral eyeshadow palette.

Price:

$36 CAD (on the Tarte website)

Rating:

9/10

Would I Buy Again?

Yes! (if I ended up re-buying palettes I suppose…)

Rambling Review:

This palette is sold at both ULTA and the Tarte website. Since it’s not sold at Sephora, this was a very special treat indeed. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you might have seen my post on the Tartelette palette. Long story short, I ended up returning it because the shadows smelled totally rotten. I was a bit hesitant about this palette for that reason, but I can safely report that the shadows smell fine. Better than fine actually. My boyfriend said they smell like mini eggs and I agree!

Here is the palette in all it’s glory. It contains 5 shadows and a blush. These shadows are right up my alley. I love bronzey neutrals. Each shadow is great quality. Pigmentation is good and they are easily blendable. One thing I’ve noticed about Tarte shadows is that they can kick up quite a bite of powder. This really doesn’t bother me though and doesn’t detract from the quality at all.

As you can see from the shadow swatches, the come off as very natural and pretty shades. Ladies Night, Twilight, and Stiletto are matte with Sparks Fly and Glimmer as shimmer shades. Due to this mix, I feel like you’d be able to create a lot of awesome looks.

Attached I have a look I did with the palette. For this look I ended up using every shade except Stiletto.

Lid: Ladies Night (Glimmer over top)

Crease: Sparks Fly

Outer Corner: Twilight

I love how natural it looks, perfect for work.

On a side note, one thing I really like about Tarte is the positivity that radiates from their products. The quote on the front of the palette reads: “May the starlight be your spotlight”. I think it’s just a pretty saying which is nice to see before opening the palette.

I am beyond happy with this palette and would recommend if you have a chance to pick it up!

Thanks for reading! Hope you have a great day!

  1. What blush shade is that, so pretty! Or is it called starpower? I just started a tarte palette and THE FORMULA IS SO GOOD! How come I never tried tarte shadows before?! D: I like how you did your outer corner + crease!

    1. I believe it actually is called Star Power! Matches so well with the palette. They have a very unique formulation which I love! Thanks Whitney! πŸ™‚

    1. It’s a really really nice palette! Yes, good for travelling just because it has a blush plus eyeshadows. The only thing is the physical palette is a bit thick!

  3. Pretty! Love the simplicity and compactness of this little palette! Also you did a lovely job with the shades, I’ve got a love for neutrals the last year and that darkest shade is perfect for the outer crease :p
