Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow

I feel like brows are one of those things that no one ever thinks about, but when they change or slay, you take notice. (Isn’t there a Tumblr blog full of celebrities with no eyebrows or something?!). When I first started getting into makeup, I never even really thought of my brows. Now after admitting that I’m a full fledged beauty addict, brows are super important. I’m no expert at brows, but just a teensy bit of work can make a huge difference!

I come at you today with a Versus between 3 brow products from Anastasia Beverly Hills (if you haven’t already, check out that time I me THE Anastasia)! I’ve used the Brow Wiz and Brow Definer before, but the Dip Brow I bought specifically with this review in mind #beautybloggerlyfe.

Anastasia Brow Wiz and Brow Definer

Anastasia Brow Wiz Brow Definer

I thought I would group these two together because they are both pencil products. I have used the Brow Wiz multiple times (this being my 4th or 5th) and this is the first for me for the Brow Definer (I’ve been using it since about January maybe)?

As you can see from the picture above, there is a huge difference in the size and the tip of the two products. The Brow Wiz is much smaller than the Brow Definer. Even the end spoolie is a fair amount smaller

The Brow Wiz has a small tip which is to be used to mimic the look of real hairs. The Brow Definer has a much larger tip, in the shape of a triangular wedge. It is to be used to ‘define’ a bit more strongly than the Brow Wiz and you can create different shapes depending on which side hold the pen from.

Aside from the size, the product itself is very similar. They are both dual ended products that twist up (no sharpening needed)! I honestly can’t say if the formula is the exact same or not, but in my mind, I feel the Brow Wiz is a bit of a stiffer pencil than the Brow Definer.

One thing I would definitely like to note is that my Brow Definer broke. One way you can use it is by using the flat edge so the pen is parallel to your face to create straight lines. After doing this a couple of times, I noticed the product would not twist down on its own which I can assume means that the product broke some where in the tube.

Anastasia Dip Brow

Anastasia Dip Brow

In terms of the Dip Brow, this is a brand new product to me as mentioned before. I have never used a cream bow pomade on my brows so I was a bit nervous.

One of the reasons why I’ve stayed away in the past is the need to use a brush. I’m so lazy that I never really have a brow or angled liner brush free. The Dip Brow is in a similar container (and has a similar look) to a gel liner.

Swatches

Here is where you can really see the difference between these products.

Anastasia
Brow Wiz – Brow Definer – Dip Brow

As you can see, the Dip Brow is much stronger than the Brow Wiz or Brow Definer (which is to be expected). Something else to note is that all three shades look a tiny bit different. The Brow Wiz looks more brown whereas the Dip Brow shows a very dark brown, almost black. Interesting, as I got the same shade for all three products, Ebony.

Anastasia Brow Products

I tried testing all three products with a makeup wipe and the results are above. The Dip Brow by far is the most noticeable after the makeup wipe. Something good to note is that the product did not smudge or smear, all three faded. That’s good to know that when the product sets, it SETS.

Now for some brow swatches.

Bare Brow

Brow

I had just recently gotten my brows done from Benefit. I have fairly bushy brows as you can see, but I’m totally okay with that.

Brow Wiz

Anastasia Brow Wiz

As mentioned, the Brow Wiz is a tried and tested product for me. NYX’s Micro Brow is a very good dupe and Marlena from Makeup Geek did a very solid comparison on the two products. Her recommendation is to just go for the NYX Micro Brow. I’ve used the Micro Brow and love it as well, but I find the shades just aren’t as good as the ABH Brow Wiz. The closest colour for me in the Micro Brow is ‘Black’ and is it ever black! Ebony in ABH is ‘black’ as well, but I find the colour isn’t quite as harsh as the Micro Brow.

Anyways, as you can see, the Brow Wiz helped my brows a lot. It’s perfect for filling in the lose edges and making the brow look natural but a bit more defined.

Brow Definer

Anastasia Brow Definer

The Brow Definer is quite similar to the Brow Wiz, but I find the colour goes on a bit fuller and deeper. This is both good and bad. I feel that as you use the spoolie to distribute the product, it starts to look a bit softer, but at the same time, the spoolie can only do so much. So if you over apply, you can definitely notice.

Dip Brow

Now last but not least is the Dip Brow. Sorry for the change in lighting between all the pictures. Due to the fact that you use a brush with the Dip Brow, I felt like I was able to get really crisp and strong lines. The brush I use has a double ended spoolie which helps to ensure the product is distributed. Since I’m new to pomades, I was very worried that I would just look like I drew on my brows but that wasn’t the case. It surprisingly looks very natural and I love the way it looks!

Verdict

Let me do some fast facts along with my opinion on each:

Brow Wiz

  • Price: $27 CAD
  • Thin pencil, small applicator
  • Easy for quick fill-ins

Brow Definer

  • Price: $30 CAD
  • Thicker design, with a triangular wedge applicator
  • Can fill in large portions of your brow at once with the ability for different angles

Dip Brow

  • Price: $23 CAD
  • Pomade in a glass container (need a brush to use it)
  • Produces clean lines and is easy to fill in your brows

After using all three of these, I would say that for lazy days, the Brow Wiz is the way to go. If I want my brows looking outta this world, I would use the Dip Brow. Personally, the Brow Definer didn’t really do much that the Brow Wiz can’t do for me because I have such thick brows. I don’t think I would repurchase for that reason just because it doesn’t suit my needs.

Anastasia is the best in the business for brows in my opinion. There is a reason these products are so hyped and I highly recommend you try all three if you haven’t!

Thanks so much for reading! Hope this was helpful if you were looking into these three options! Have a great day!

  1. This is a brilliant roundup and dang girl, I am jealous of your full brows! Mine is so pathetic in comparison to yours. LOL! I am cheap with my brow products so I stick to my e.l.f brow kit and NYX micro brow pencil.

    1. Sooo true. I haven’t been able to use the pomade as much as I like! REALLY?! Blogging/ YouTube definitely turn me on to ABH and her godly products lol!

  2. I have yet to try an Anastasia product of any kind, but I do have a few on my wishlist. I have a few eyebrow products I already love, but the Dip Brow has always caught my attention because I haven’t tried a formula like that yet. πŸ™‚ All of them look great on you with the shade matching!

    1. Thanks Angela! The difference is huge! I always used to not care about my brows at all, but after seeing the difference it makes its just crazy!

  3. Great comparison!! I personally don’t use brow products but I always like to recommend which ones to use when my friends talk about brows. Most of my friends are familiar with the dip brow but not brow wiz!
