Brand Overview: Sudsatorium

sudsatorium

Canada Day was quite some time ago, but the Canadian Beauty Blogger theme of the month, Canadian Brands, applies all month long! Keeping with the theme, I wanted to introduce you to a brand that I discovered not so long ago, Sudsatorium. They are a bath and cosmetics company similar to Lush, producing shampoo, conditioner, hard soap, and more. I’ve tried a few things that I’ve been very happy with and would like to introduce you to the brand.

I’ll start off by saying that this post is not sponsored at all and I paid for these products with my own money! This is just an introduction to a brand that I think deserves some love.

Brand Overview

I was first introduced to Sudsatorium at the Blossom and Bloom show held at Union Station in Toronto. I had been looking for a new scrub and thought I would try one from Sudsatorium as I couldn’t get to a Lush anytime soon. I fell in love with it (full review further down the post). Since I had never heard of Sudsatorium, I decided to look a bit further into the company.

As per their Facebook page, Sudsatorium was created in 2014 in the Greater Toronto Area. Some highlights of the company include being:

  • Vegan
  • Organic
  • Cruelty Free
  • Fair Trade

They also donate 5% of their sales to grass root charities both locally and globally. In addition, their packaging is ecologically friendly with their bottles being made out of PLA (a clear plastic made completely from corn or sugar cane). Sudsatorium is definitely a super company if I ever saw one!

Products

At Blossom and Bloom show I picked up their Downunderish scrub and then picked up their Scentsless shampoo and Esperidoeidiphobia conditioner from The Detox Market.

Downunderish Scrub

The description on the Sudsatorium Etsy website for Downunderish is:

Sea salt, a natural antiseptic as well as exfoliant, meets pints of astonishingly refreshing enzymatic pineapple juice to revive tired hides.

Astringent Aussie mimosa absolute and rosalina, aka lavender tea tree, cleanses skin of dirt and grime, as fresh kiwis brighten your complexion.

Luxurious macadamia nut oil and emu apple wax comfort to keep skin soft and well behaved.

This scrub is amazing! The pineapple juice makes this scrub smell good enough to eat. I notice that the oils used in this scrub really help to lock in moisture while in the shower. I’ve used this both on my face and body and feel that it works great for both. It’s a gritty scrub (which I like), but not too rough to cause irritation.

Scentsless shampoo and Esperidoeidiphobia conditioner

At The Detox Market they only had a couple of items from Sudsatorium, but I decided to pick up this shampoo and conditioner.

The description for Scentsless is:

An extra gentle shampoo for those of us who prefer to avoid fragrance.

Rich in vitamins B12 and E, bladdderwrack seaweed is a powerful detoxifier that helps draw out
impurities from your hair and scalp that have accumulated up there over time.

The description for Esperidoeidiphobia (a fear of citrus) is:

Warning: back away immediately if you have a fear of citrus!

Gratuitous glugs of organic lime, lemon, grapefruit and orange oils pair with softening agar seaweed to create the ultimate conditioner for delivering stunning gloss and volume to lacklustre locks.

I’ve been using both in conjunction for a bit and so far so good! I’m not as rave-y about these as the scrub, but still very solid options! After using both my hair is manageable, soft and shiny! I’d like to try more of their shampoos and conditioners though. Maybe their Living in the Momint conditioner or Mr. Tea shampoo.

Something to note about their products is that they are more pricey than those found at the drugstore. The scrub was around $16 and the shampoo and conditioner each was about $30. With this being said, they are not a huge amount more expensive considering the size (shampoo and conditioner are 500mL) along with their charitable and fair trade initiatives. I would definitely be willing to try other Sudsatorium products even with their prices being more than others.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a new ethical, green, and local (for those in Canada or Toronto) brand, I would definitely recommend Sudsatorium. They ship worldwide from their Etsy store or if you’re in Toronto you can find them at local markets or festivals along with The Detox Market.

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you have a wonderful day!
