Empties: Foil Packets and Face Masks

empties canadian beauty bloggers

Hello friends. It’s been a bit since I’ve done my last empties post, but I figured it was time to dig through my beauty trash for the last couple of weeks. I have a few foil packets, a few face masks, and of course, a few packs of makeup removing wipes. Lets get right into it!

Foil Packets

NeoStrata SecureWhite Brightening Cream
Repurchase: No

I actually got this product from my family doctor! Interesting strategy by NeoStrata to hit the medical market. Anyways, my doctor gave this to me because I’ve been experience some pretty annoying hyper-pigmentation on my face. Since it’s a foil packet, I guess I can’t judge it too hard just because I didn’t use it consistently. I just feel like I wouldn’t really repurchase it because I didn’t see a difference, and wouldn’t really like to gamble on the fully size. Whitening creams also have such a strong stigma which gives me the creeps.

THEFACESHOP Blackhead Out Nose Strip
Repurchase: Probably not

I got this in THEFACESHOP’s advent calendar and finally got around to using it. It worked pretty decently, but I found it had a very strong scent to it. Not fragranced or anything, but just kind of strong and chemically. Not sure if that was the charcoal or not. Since it’s so close to your nose, I definitely noticed it.

OGX Bamboo Fibre Full Shampoo and Conditioner
Repurchase: Probably not

One of the gifts from Gen Beauty (which you can read about here). It was actually a pretty decent shampoo and conditioner set. It made my hair soft and silky. Volume and full-ness isn’t a huge hair concern for me though, so I can’t see myself purchasing the full sized of these.

Purlisse Blue Lotus Sheet Mask
Repurchase: No

Another Gen Beauty gift. Not a huge fan of this sheet mask as I found the serum took a long time to really soak into my skin. I hate the feeling of serum just sitting on the surface of my skin, so any benefits from the formula would be offset by this annoyance.

Life Brand Detoxifiying Face Mask
Repurchase: No

I decided to try a Life brand face mask as opposed to a 7th Heaven or Balea mask and I regret it. This face mask just didn’t feel as nice as the other similarly priced face masks. On my face the mask felt cooling, but that was about it. Nothing life changing that’s for sure.

Minis

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
Repurchase: Yes!

This primer is pretty expensive, but it’s a nice one I’ve found for my skin. It doesn’t keep me totally matte, but it definitely prolongs the wear of my makeup. It’s so hard to find a primer that you actually feel does something but this one is definitely noticeable!

Full Sized

Kirkland Daily Facial Towelettes
Repurchase: Yes

These are the makeup wipes they sell at Costco. They’re okay and definitely get the job done for the price. I think a huge box with 3 of these 30 wipe packages and 2 mini travel packs is around $15-$20? They work decently considering the price, but I’ve used better wipes for sure. I end up going back to these just cause of the price!

Olay Wet Cleansing Towelettes
Repurchase: No

It’s so funny, these wipes were the first wipes I used when I first started getting into makeup. After trying out soooo many other wipes, these definitely didn’t make the cut for me. They dried out really quickly and it took some effort to take off foundation. I think I have another pack that I’ll use up eventually but definitely not my favourite makeup wipes.

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo
Repurchase: Yes

I’ve been using baby shampoo to clean my brushes up until I bought a solid cleanser to try out. Baby shampoo is a great way to really deep clean your brushes. The only thing I don’t like is the scent which I find sticks to the brushes even after drying.

Formula X Delete to Go Nail Polish Remover Wipes
Repurchase: Maybe

I love these wipes just cause they’re so easy and fast. These worked better than the Sephora branded nail polish remover wipes I’ve tried, but I would still usually need more than one sheet to remove all my polish. They worked decently though and would considering repurchasing.

I Love…Vanilla & Ice Cream Body Wash*
Repurchase: Maybe

This was my first time trying anything from the I Love… brand and was quite impressed. I love body wash and this one smelled exactly like vanilla ice cream. The sweetness was uncanny! This didn’t necessarily moisten my skin but didn’t dry it out either! I’d love to look into trying other scents from this brand!

Up & Up Cotton Rounds
Repurchase: Can’t!

Trash

Revlon Quick Dry Nail Polish Base
Repurchase: Maybe

This was a pretty nice nail polish base actually. It did exactly what it was supposed to and filled in some crevices in my nails while drying quickly for the next application of colour polish. No complaints! The bottle is so old though and it’s quite goopy now.

Sephora Super Nourishing Lip Balm
Repurchase: Maybe

I bought this forever ago and left it in my school backpack. I completely forgot about it and after the 5+ years I’ve had it I thought it was time to toss it. I remember really liking it though and it’s decently cheap (around $8?). I hope they still have this at Sephora cause I wouldn’t mind trying this again!

Ahh the purging of product is such a nice feeling! Thanks so much for reading! Hope you have an awesome day!

  1. I never think to save up my beauty empties. I’ll keep one or two, and then just throw them out. I always love to see what people are actually using up. I use the same baby lotion to clean my brushes, but I hate the lingering smell. The dr. bronner ones are a lot nicer!

    1. It’s a bit of a pain, but I always end up trying to. It brings a small sense of accomplishment even if it’s just empty cotton pad wrappers lol.

Ohh I want to try the Dr. Bronner ones then!

  2. I was on the fence about the pur~lisse sheet masks, I received 3 through ipsy and all 3 did nothing for my skin. I really need to start using up samples instead of trashing them, it’s a great way to discover products.

    1. I should definitely pick up another bottle!! Yup, this is my 3rd or 4th bottle of the stuff! I should maybe invest in the full size, haha!
