Event Recap: ChickAdvisor ShowCase 2016

ChickAdvisor Showcase

A couple of weeks ago, I got the chance to attend the ChickAdvisor Showcase. If you haven’t heard, ChickAdvisor is product review site that features everything from baby products, to food, to beauty items. I joined the site some time ago, and I’ve been posting reviews ever since. One of the site’s biggest draws is their Product Review Club. Members have the opportunity to be sent products to try out and then post a review on the site. I’ve been able to try a lot of great products through this program. I’d like to think it was one of the reasons I wanted to start blogging!

The ChickAdvisor Showcase takes the Product Review Club to the next level. It’s essentially a ‘live’ reviewing session where they present you with products and you post a review on ChickAdvisor on the spot! This was my second Showcase (I did a recap of  the first ChickAdvisor Showcase here). It was an amazing afternoon filled with great blogger friends!

The Venue

The Toronto event was held at the gorgeous Fairmont Royal York. The room was decorated banquet style with large tables and beautiful centerpieces. They had a DJ and a huge food table including coffee and tea. Everything was amazing, and it really set the mood.

The Reviews

We had the chance to review seven items. There were a few items I didn’t review just because I don’t really use them (I don’t drink and I don’t wear mascara). I thought I could post micro reviews of the products I did try though!

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

ChickAdvisor Showcase

First up on the review list was Simple Cleaning Facial Wipes. I’ve used these wipes multiple times and they’re ok for a drugstore option. They definitely get the job done. A few things I’ve noticed in the past were that sometimes the wipes came out quite dry and I didn’t love the smell of them. I’m not sure if Simple was listening, but these are newly formulated and both of these qualms seem to be dealt with. They still smell a bit, but not as much as I noticed before!! A win in my books.

The Estee Edit Pore Vanishing Stick

ChickAdvisor Showcase

Next we have something from the fairly new Estee Edit Line. I have very intense pores on my nose so I was excited to see how this would perform. It’s a balm consistency which goes on smooth. I did notice that some of my pores were still visible, but this stuff mattified like crazy! I would definitely use this again!

Mary Kay Gel Semi Matte Lipstick

I recently did a full review on the whole line! You can check it out here! TL;DR: Great lipsticks!

Dove Advanced Hair Series Regenerative Nourishment Serum-in-Oil

ChickAdvisor Showcase

This was one of my favourite products of the event! I have another Dove hair oil and love it. I have really frizzy hair (especially unruly ends) and this helped a lot. Since the event I’ve used this on wet hair too and LOVE. The scent is great and it works so well. Definitely on my repurchase list when it runs out!

CND Creative Play Nail Polish

ChickAdvisor Showcase

The last product of the day was a CND nail polish. We got two colours to play around with, a red and purple. I decided to try on the purple. I like this nail polish! The colour is extremely vibrant and shiny. This purple took a couple of coats to get opaque, but nothing crazy.

The Friends

The absolute best part of this event was being able to hang out with other Canadian Beauty Bloggers. We laughed, we chatted, and we just enjoyed each other’s company! We sat at a great table where all of the ladies were super friendly and chatty!

In closing, if you get the chance to go to a ChickAdvisor event, I would highly recommend it. I’m sure the planning that goes into these things is crazy and it definitely shows.

Thanks so much for reading and hope you had a great day!

*I attended the ChickAdvisor Showcase via media pass and did not purchase a ticket.
