Hi folks! Today I have some initial thoughts and swatches of the two lipsticks from the MAC x Nicki Minaj collection that she designed herself. This collections also includes 18 nude lipsticks and 6 nude lipglasses but these are from the permanent MAC collection.
This is one of the first MAC collections where I was super genuinely excited to try out the lipsticks. I’m not a huge MAC person (never have been) and a lot of their collections for me have just been meh. I think they produce quality stuff for sure, but there’s so many other brands on the market it’s hard to be brand specific. There’s something about Nicki Minaj though that I love. I actually have her first collab with MAC (a bright pink Viva Glam lipstick). I also think these colours in this collection fit really well with Nicki because as loud and proud as her music is, her makeup is beautifully simple.
Getting to the lipsticks, the two are The Pinkprint (described as a midtone creamy pink) and Nicki’s Nude (described as a soft corally pink) are Amplified finishes (creamy and pigmented). I think I might have a new favourite finish. Usually I go for Creamsheens, but I really like the feeling of the Amplified finish.
The Pinkprint – Nicki’s Nude
I was a little nervous for The Pinkprint and for good reason. I don’t love blue toned pinks on me, but this one was better than expected. It’s a bit patchy (frequently found for me in lighter toned pinks), but I could see myself wearing this again. I just have to make sure my lips are SUPER exfoliated before using this. The colour shows lip lines, but again, something I have to deal with for lighter colours regularly.
Next ups is Nicki’s Nude which I’m in love with. This colour shows exactly as described and I love the soft coral with my skin tone. In person it has a bit more a brownish hue to it which is fine. This one will be in my rotation for sure in terms of everyday lipsticks.
Thanks so much for reading? Are you planning to pick up anything from the MAC x Nicki Minaj collection? Have a great day!
