At Gen Beauty 2017 I got a few minis of the Ciate Liquid Velvet Lipsticks. I know Ciate mostly from nail polishes, but they have been breaking into the makeup world in a BIG way. Have you seen their glitter flips??? They are definitely on my to-buy list! Anyways, I thought I would show you how these liquid velvet lipsticks perform!

Rambling Review
As mentioned, I as surprised that Ciate now has such a wide range of makeup items, one of them being these Liquid Velvet Lipsticks. There are 21 lipsticks in this collection. I have Pin Up (a ‘universally flattering berry’) and Swoon (‘nude’).
The lipstick comes with a pointed doe foot applicator. I found the applicator a bit hard to use, but I have issues applying lipstick cleanly on a good day. One of the reasons I found it hard to use was the lipstick texture. We’ll get to that soon.
On application I was surprised how rich the colour was! The formula is a mousse-like liquid which is very airy and light. It is definitely an extremely comfortable lip product and goes on very smooth. I did find there was major slip so I had to be careful as I was applying. After a couple minutes after application, these did dry down and left that pretty soft matte look!

I’m super impressed with how they look on the lips. From the pictures you can see the lipstick highlights lines a bit, but I think that’s pretty normal for this finish.
In terms of longevity, I found that these lipsticks weren’t stellar. They would stay for a good couple of hours, but I usually need my lipsticks to last the whole day. Into the later hours of the day I could feel my lips getting a bit dry.
All in all, I think a very solid line for those looking for that soft matte look. I like the colour selection and the pigmentation. Just make sure you moisturize your lips well and bring the colour along to reapply throughout the day!

Great review! Love the colours! I think I have Pin Up as well and one other. Haven’t really had a chance to wear it all day but it’s good to know how they hold up in case I need to!

I have one of this through ipsy and I love the formula! It’s also not as drying on my lips.

Pin Up is super pretty! I first found out Ciate did makeup a while back, when I was browsing Sephora online (their illuminating blush looks GORGEOUS). The formula sounds lovely, and don’t even talk to me about lipstick application. One of the reasons I’m scared to try bolder liquid lipsticks is that I can’t apply regular lipstick to save my a$$ either 😂 #whatprecision
