First Impressions: Wet n Wild Mega Cushion + Swatches

Wet 'N Wild Mega Cushion

Hi folks! Wet n Wild is one of my favourite drugstore brands. I find that the quality and innovations are just impeccable for the price. I recently went to a 2018 launch event and I got lots of products to try out (so you’ll be seeing a few Wet N Wild posts in the near future)! Some items I got are the Mega Cushion Colour Correctors, Contour, and Highlight.

Cushions seem to still be holding strong after being released it feels like a couple of years ago. I never really jumped on the cushion train just because I didn’t really see the need. After playing around for these for a bit, I can see why that the cushion craze is still holding strong. The product that comes off a cushion is airy and blendable which makes it easy to complete a holistic look.

Packaging

The new Wet n Wild cushions are housed in a circular container which comes with a fabric puff. When talking to the makeup artist at the event, she said she ends up using her fingers. I use my fingers a lot of makeup so this is totally up my alley (just make sure your fingers are clean before diving in)!

The front has different cartoon girls with varying hair colours based on the colour of the products. I think they’re pretty cute, they sorta remind me of anime or manga style. The only thing that I think this does though is make it look a little ‘young’. Wet n Wild has in the past had more of a younger feel to it, so I’m curious as they come out with new products if they still want to keep that vibe.

Colours and Swatches

The colour correcting shades come in green, lavender, yellow and peach. I don’t have the yellow one, but I have the other three. I was surprised how pigmented these were. You do have to blend out quickly just because I find that since they are so airy, they dry quickly. The green shade is lighter which is good to lessen the chance of looking like Kermit the frog! The lavender shade is quite light as well, with a blue tinge. Similar to how I described my Essence colour corrector sticks, I find the purple a bit hard to use. The peach shade gives good coverage and definitely a first step to covering my dark circles.

For the contour and highlight, I found that the contour was a tad dark for me. I personally like a very light contour so I find it a bit hard to use. I feel like someone with a darker skin tone might have better results. The highlight on the other hand is SO PRETTY!! It gives a very pretty pearl glow. This is definitely a highlighter I can see myself using!

I’m happy to integrate these new cushion products into my routine! The formulation is great and definitely worth it! These retail for $8 CAD and can be found online and local retailers like Shoppers Drug Mart!

Thanks so much for reading! Hope you have a great day!

  1. I have never been on board with cushion products either. I only own one and it’s from Physicians Formula but I actually don’t like it much. I’m very open to trying other brands of cushions though! I would definitely want to try the colour correctors. I like the packaging because I like cutesy stuff haha
