Haul: The Ordinary

the ordinary haul

I know, I know. I’m a bit behind the times. I usually am in general, just in life, but nothing more so than mentioning The Ordinary. If you enjoy beauty / reading blogs / watching beauty videos / don’t live under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the brand. I decided to wander into one of their freestanding stores and check it out. Of course I came out with some items and I thought I would share.

Brand Overview

Just a bit before we start in case you haven’t heard of the brand. The Ordinary has been blowing up the beauty world for their ROCK BOTTOM prices for their skincare. We’re talking $6 for serums. This price point is definitely unheard of. On their website they describe themselves as:

‘an evolving collection of treatments offering familiar, effective clinical technologies positioned to raise pricing and communication integrity in skincare. The brand was created to celebrate integrity in its most humble and true form. Its offering is pioneering, not in the familiar technologies it uses, but in its honesty and integrity. The Ordinary is born to disallow commodity to be disguised as ingenuity. The Ordinary is “Clinical formulations with integrity”.’

Salicylic Acid 2% Solution

the ordinary salicylic acid

First up is the Salicylic Acid. I’ve had moderate success with Salicylic acid in the past so I thought I would try this one. I’ve used this a couple of times and I’m surprised how potent it is. Used as a spot treatment, it definitely dries out the area completely. Like, completely sucks away the oils. This isn’t a be all and end all for me, but for $5.30, it’s definitely worth a try if you like Salicylic acid.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

I picked up the Niacinamide solely because I saw ‘blemish’ on the byline. This is an interesting one as it says that it’s supposed to help diminish the look of blemishes and extra sebum on the face, this is not an acne treatment. It can be used alongside acne treatments though. Using this, I actually like this as an all over serum. I apply this directly to my clean face and then apply a heavier cream afterwards. It’s hard to say if it makes a huge difference, but it definitely provides a noticeable barrier on my skin! It’s another very reasonably priced serum at $5.90!

Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%

Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%

The Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution has Vitamin C to help brighten the skin and reduces the signs of aging. I got this for the skin brightening as I know that’s something where products with Vitamin C can really help. This formula is a bit pricier at $12.90, but still extremely affordable for the product! I have high hopes for this product!

Serum Foundation (1.2 YG)

Serum Foundation (1.2 YG)

Last but not least I also picked up a shade of their Serum foundation in 1.2YG. I haven’t tried this, and to tell you the truth I’m a bit scared. There have been some major hype over the foundations from The Ordinary. Being around $6, it’s hard to say no to this. I wanted to also get the coverage foundation, but they had no more in stock!

And there we have my most recent haul! Have you tried anything from The Ordinary? Any favs? Let me know! Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
