A Beauty Blogger’s Guide When Feeling Sick

winter beauty favourites

This winter has been a bit brutal. I *knock on wood* have not gotten sick yet, but I’m almost waiting for it. The flu has been particularly bad this year and both at work and at home people have been sick. I thought I would put together my favourite beauty items that help me stay human when feeling like death.

Saje Diffuser and Essential Oils

For my birthday, I received the Saje Aromabreeze Ultrasonic Diffuser and I can say that I never looked back. I have a full review coming of my favourite essential oils from Saje so I won’t go into too much detail.

Two essential oils that I would like to highlight are the Saje Pure Peppermint Essential Oil and the Divine Essence Prana (Winter) Essential Oil*. These two both open up the sinuses and make your head feel fresh. The diffuser also acts as a humidifier, so it’s definitely a huge all-around great thing to have running when you’re sick.

Body and Face

skincare when sick

There are a couple of key things that not only are great when sick, but when your skin is screaming for a moisture relief. My favourite body cream for this time of year is Lush’s Charity Pot Body Lotion. This is one of the most unique body creams I have tried. It’s easy to massage in and it doesn’t feel greasy at all. My skin definitely retains the moisture though, up until I take a shower next! Not only this, but Lush  donates “100% of the price (minus the taxes) to small grassroots organizations working in the areas of environmental conservation, animal welfare and human rights”. If this isn’t a must-buy, not sure what is.

The Body Shop’s masks are new to me, but they’ve become a quick favourite. The British Rose Mask is amazing to really rejuvenate facial skin. It really pumps in the moisture and my skin feels smooth as a baby’s bottom after. Another great moisture item for the face is belif’s true cream – moisturzing bomb*. I’m a HUGE fan of belif and their true creams. It’s very rich and definitely will help with that rough nose one gets after blowing it for so long!

Hand and Lips

hand and lip products when you're sick

The things that take a beating the most when I’m sick are my hands and my lips. The Compagnie de Provence Karite Shea Hand Cream is definitely a favourite of mine. It sinks in fast, and doesn’t leave a greasy feel.

For lips, my favourites for intense dryness is BITE’s Agave Lip Mask and Jack Black’s Lip Balm. I use BITE’s at night and I always wake up with the softest and smoothest lips. I was able to wear a Colourpop Ultra Matte lip with no other balm other than the Agave Lip Mask from the night before recently. That definitely shows it’s moisturizing powers! The Jack Black lip balm is one of my favs for out and about. It’s quite thick so I don’t usually wear it with a lip product over top, but it’s perfect when I’m going bare lipped or sick. This works like a charm and it definitely gives relief  to chapped, uncomfortable lips.

And there are my top sick picks. If you’re feeling under the weather, I hope you get well soon! Drink lots of water, put on some sweats, and think healthy thoughts. 😉 Thanks for reading! Have a great day!

    1. I really hope so too. I was really worried cause I didn’t get my flu shot this year, but it seems the strain that’s attacking everyone wasn’t protected anyways!
