It’s almost comforting thinking about spring, especially when winter still is in full swing! One way I get my mind on warmer thoughts is through new makeup launches! Mary Kay has a couple of new items out for spring so I thought I would share!
Essential Brush Collection
One thing that I haven’t seen much from Mary Kay are brushes! I feel like a lot of companies are starting to get on the brush train. The Essential Brush Collection ($75 CAD) contains 5 brushes for a full look:
- All Over Powder Brush
- Eye Smudger Brush
- All Over Eye Shadow Brush
- Eye Crease Brush
- Cheek Brush
I’m pretty happy with the quality of these brushes and synthetic brushes I find work a bit better than natural hair. The powder and cheek brushes are very dense and fluffy which is something I look for in my larger face brushes. The eye brushes are pretty similar to others that I’ve used. The brushes are super soft!
Mineral Colour Eye Colour Quad
There are two colour quads in this collection ($21 each): berry haute and shades of jade. Similar to other Mary Kay quads, these come in a magnetic format that you can snap easily into a magnetized palette. I noticed for the two in the Spring 2018 palettes, the shadows themselves seemed a bit smaller than prior collections.

In comparison to other Mary Kay eye quads, I thought some of the pigmentation was a bit lacking. It was still pretty strong when swatching with a finger, but when trying to create eye looks with it, I found I wasn’t able to really pull the look together. I think the colour combinations are really pretty, but the last Mary Kay quads still take the cake for me!
Satin Body Collection
The Satin Body collection throws me back to some of the Satin Body items from a couple of years ago with their hand and lip care collections! The collection comes with 4 items:
- Shea Scrub ($22 CAD)
- Shea Wash ($22 CAD)
- Shea Lotion ($22 CAD)
- Whipped Body Cream ($26 CAD)
All items are scented with white tea and citrus which is a clean scent. It has a bit of a purfume-y edge, but something I’d still use.

Opening the whipped body cream, I couldn’t stop staring at those swirls! Too cool!! 🙂
