First Impressions: JLo x Inglot Collection

If there’s one thing that gets the makeup world racing it’s a collaboration. Another thing that people love is JLo becuase….JLo. Inglot, one of my favourite brands, released yesterday a collaboration with Jennifer Lopez! When I started to see the press pictures coming out before the launch I was blown away. The line seemed to totally represent her and speak to her brand. I was fortunate enough to attend an early sneak peek of the collection earlier this week and we were given a few treats to try out! Here’s my first impressions of a few items!

Background

A bit about the collection first. The Inglot – Jennifer Lopez collaboration was apparently a 2 year endeavour (crazy, I know!) between the brand and the superstar. JLo had walked into an Inglot store in Oxford England and was enamoured by the brand. JLo was apparently extremely active in the production of this (I believe) 70 piece collection. She designed the packaging, and was in the lab testing formulas. This labour of love definitely shows through, the collection is stunning.

Packaging

One of the things that caught my eye first was the packaging.  Everything is in a sleek matte black packaging with copper highlights. The lipstick bullet feels significant and luxe. The eyeshadows have the stylized JL logo on it which is so pretty! The only thing is that the matte black lids with definitely get dirty! I’m super messy with my makeup and that sleek-ness will only stay pristine for so long!

Eyeshadows

Deep Amethyst – Taupe

I received two eyeshadows ($16 CAD) to try out.  These are the same pan size as a regular Inglot shadow that can be popped into a magnetic palette or in their own freedom system (the collection includes JLo branded empty palettes which look super sleek).

One colour is Taupe (shadow on the right) which is a sparkly taupe-y brown. It leans a bit copper just because of the sparkles.

The other colour I have is Deep Amethyst (shadow on the left) which is a deep plum metallic. This one doesn’t have has much glitter as Taupe, but still definitely shiny!

Both shadows are pretty and decently original in my collection. Taupe is interesting because when you think of taupe as a colour, it’s mostly used as a crease colour as it’s usually neutral and matte. This shadow has the taupe undertone, but definitely has a bit of spunk too!

Pure Pigment Eyeshadow

The colour I have is Ethereal ($26 CAD) which is a stunning copper-cranberry- gold. A pretty and unique mix. The Pure Pigment Eyeshadows in general pack a stunning punch. I don’t have any in my collection, but I’ve played around with them. Loose pigments can get messy for sure, but with a brush or your fingers, you can play around with how intense you want the colour or if you just want more of a glittery overlay! Stunning!

Lipstick

The lipsticks in this collection I think will appeal to a lot of people because there are a lot of nudes or my-lips-but-better colours. The one I got was Dolce ($26 CAD) which is a surprisingly orange-leaning creamy nude. As mentioned, I love the packaging on this. The bullet is sleek with the JL logo inscribed on the lipstick. Wearing this for an evening felt amazing. The formula is creamy and did not dry out my lips at all!!

Highlighter

I saved the heavy hitter for last. When this collection was announced I was particularly excited to see the glow products. Seeing them at the event preview, they did not disappoint! I received Livin’ the Highlight ($29 CAD) which is actually the first product I swatched at the event (and was on my Instagram story). If you are okay with loose highlighter, I think you NEED THIS. This highlighter gives the PERFECT buttery, slick and shimmery sheen that I just want to bathe in. The powder is milled very finely and leaves it’s incredible mark.

Swatches

Taupe – Deep Amethyst – Ethereal – Dolce – Livin’ the Highlight

Here are the swatches which do come off a bit different than in the pan/tube. Taupe and Deep Amethyst look surprisingly similar. The glitter didn’t come off too much in the swatch, but looking in real life you can tell it’s there (not like a glitter bomb or anything though). If there are things you’re looking at in the collection, I recommend going in store (if you can) to swatch some things out. Just from my experience with the products I have, the packaging wasn’t necessarily a true representation of what it looks like on the skin.

JLo x Inglot Look

I created a look with all the products I got. The only things that aren’t Inglot are actually brows.
