New Favourite Beauty Discoveries of 2018

2018 beauty favourites

I can’t believe today is the last day of 2018! The year seemed to just fly by! There were a lot of exciting things that happened both for my blog and personally. I just recently celebrated my 5th year of blogging, 1k followers on instagram, and 1 year at my job. I got to continue to work with amazing brands and try out some great PR samples! Today I have a round of up of some of my favourite discoveries of 2018. Some of these might not be new as of this year, but new to me!

JLo x Inglot Collection*

Inglot JLo Collection

This spring, one of my fav brands Inglot teamed up with JLo to create a collection. This was really big as Inglot isn’t the most well known brands out there. The quality and ingredients of their products are top notch and I’ve been very impressed. I was really happy to see the brand get some well deserved attention. The full collection includes eyeshadow, highlighter, lipstick and more. I have more info on the collection in this post. I’ve loved all of the products I’ve tried but I picked out two standouts for me. One of them I believe is a repackaged product that Inglot already had but wanted to rave about it as well.

Inglot JLo Collection

The JLo x Inglot Livin the Highlight is a loose powder highlight that I’ve been OBSESSED with. This is not a highlighter for the faint of heart. What I love about it is that it’s super punchy with glitter but not too glittery if that makes sense. When blended, it gives that wet highlight look that I’ve been digging. I would highly recommend this highlight! I have swatches in this post if you’re interested.

The other JLo x Inglot collection product is the Brow Liner Gel in Truffle. I think this is the item repackaged, being the AMC Brow Liner Gel in I think shade 20. What I love about this is how extremely creamy the formula is. You don’t need too much and it draws very evenly on the brow! I like this better than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Dipbrow so I can see the Inglot one finding a permanent place in my collection!

It Cosmetics Superhero Liner

It Cosmetics Super Hero Liner

I have been very faithful to my Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. It’s been a favourite of mine for years and I’m always skeptical to try new liners. The It Cosmetics Superhero Liner fits the bill for liners that I love though. Liquid, super black and a BRUSH TIP! I hate felt tip liners! I’m super impressed with the It Cosmetics Liner and have been using it quite a bit this year. It’s waterproof and smudgeproof. I do notice that there is a tiny bit of transfer in the outer corner of my eyes, but that’s expected with all liners for me (I think my eye shape). I can definitely see myself using this liner up and repurchasing!

Hard Candy Look Pro Earthy Vixen*

An unexpected surprise for me was the Hard Candy Look Pro Earthy Vixen palette. For drugstore (and affordable drugstore I must say), the quality of these shadows are great. I’ve been using this quite a bit and really loving it. If you’re looking for a palette with major colour payoff for an amazing price, you’d be hard pressed to find another palette that fits the bill!! You can check out full swatches of this palette in my blog post here.

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault Palette in Ring the Alarm

Another winner for me is the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault palette in Ring the Alarm. When my friend Leah brought this back from the States for me, I was so excited. I love the original Jaclyn Hill palette and this one delivers as well. It’s been a warm toned year for me and this palette has filled all my raspberry, dark cherry and bronze dreams!

Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Cloud*

Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Cloud

I finally got a chance to try the Stila liquid eyeshadows and I’m in love. The Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Cloud is a beautiful eyeshadow that provides a really pretty pop to the eyes. It’s easy to apply and really gives a pretty look! I can definitely see myself looking into more of these in the new year!

Huda Beauty Overachiever Concealer

When this first came out, the Huda Beauty Overachiever Concealer was getting a lot of hype. The shade range is decent and I was hearing that the coverage was amazing. I have TERRIBLE eye bags and dark circles so I thought I’d give this a try. I’m very impressed! It goes on smooth, pigmentation is high, and it doesn’t settle into lines. I love that it also has a metal tip to cool the undereye area. Definitely would recommend this concealer!

Laneige Firming Sleeping Mask*

Laneige Firming Sleeping Mask

I always love trying new leave-on night masks just because they are so low maintenance. One I’ve been turning to more and more is the Laneige Firming Sleeping Mask. I love the ‘jelly’ feel of this mask in the jar. It goes on very smooth and I can feel my skin really soaking it up.  My skin feels refreshed and moisturized in the morning! If you’re low maintenance like me and just want that pick me up for your skin, try this sleeping mask out!

Bite Beauty Scorpio and Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Matte in Superstar Brown*

bite beauty scoripio and revlon superstar brown

I’ve actually stepped back from lipstick….sort of! I feel like I have so many in my collection, I tried to make an effort to use some up. Two new additions to my collection though were very much welcome! The Bite Beauty Scorpio lipstick is a beautiful bright orange coral. It was the perfect birthday gift for myself, with Scorpio being my astrological sign and loving bright reds and oranges! I’ve gotten a lot of use out of this one this holiday season!

A surprise for me was the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Matte in Superstar Brown. As described in this full face of Revlon post here, I don’t have any browns in my collection just because they just seem so dated. This one surprised me a lot by how much I like it! The formula itself is smooth and the pigmentation is good. It’s more of a nude brown that’s so wearable! Colour me impressed!

And those are my top picks of 2018! I’ll end off with a shot of me wearing most of the products mentioned!

Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best for 2019!
